SUMMARY:Stand Up Against Harassment: Bystander Training
DESCRIPTION:The Suzy Lamplugh Trust are delighted to announce that we have partnered with L’Oréal Paris to exclusively bring you the expert-approved “Stand Up Against Street Harassment”  international training programme by “Right To Be”. Sessions are thirty minutes and free of charge to attend. \nThere has been unprecedented demand for bystander training from both the business world and the general public after the tragic case of Sarah Everard. People and organisations want to take steps to address the prevalence of unwanted and aggressive behaviours such as harassment that underly the broader cycle of violence against women and girls\, which the Trust has worked on since its inception over three decades ago. This partnership will allow the Trust to fulfil its objective of standing against harassment alongside the wider public. \nThe scale of harassment and similar unwanted behaviours is significant and the need to educate the public has never been more apparent: \n\n80% of women in the UK have reported experiencing harassment in public spaces\n75% of UK harassment victims said no one helped\n93% of UK women and 90% of UK men believe there is lack of training on how to intervene\n86% of UK witnesses who have intervened reported that their action improved the situation\n86% of UK respondents say they did not intervene because they do not know what to do\n\n*Statistics from surveys completed by L’Oréal Paris and IPSOS between 2019 – 2021. \nThis programme drives awareness of harassment\, upskilling and empowering individuals across various settings such as schools\, public transport\, festivals\, public spaces\, and workplaces\, to help defuse situations\, discourage harassers\, and support victims. \nFor individual bookings please complete and submit the registration form. If you wish to book for larger groups of 50 – 250\, please email us at training@suzylamplugh.org. \nPlaces are capped at 250 per session\, with a minimum of 75 required for the session to take place. This training is open to all.

SUMMARY:Men’s Role in tackling male violence against women and girls
DESCRIPTION:A panel to explore the role men and wider corporates have in combatting male violence against women and girls\n\n\n\nThe statistics illustrating the reality of violence against women and girls show how prevalent it is: \n\nIt’s estimated that one in three women over the age of 16 in Great Britain were subjected to at least one form of harassment in the year to November 2021.\nThis increases to two in three for women aged 16 to 34.\nMeanwhile\, an estimated 1.6 million women aged 16 to 74 experienced domestic abuse in England and Wales in the 12 months to November 2021.\nAround 5.1 million women aged 18 to 74 experienced some form of abuse when they were children\nA 2021 UN Women report\, which defines sexual harassment as the ‘continuum of violent practices against women and girls’\, found that only 3% of women aged 18-24 had not experienced sexual harassment.\n\nThe reality is that most violence against women is committed by men\, it’s our role as men to tackle this violence by challenging long-established attitudes\, behaviours and systems around masculinity that perpetuate gender inequality and lead to men’s violence against women. \nMen’s violence – in all its forms – also has an impact on the health and safety of employees\, their well-being and their productivity. A positive workplace culture of equality and respect not only makes a direct difference to staff\, but can also lead to transformation in wider society. This is why in addition to men\, tackling this must be a corporate responsibility. \nRegister for this session here.
