This online session organised by the Department for Education (DfE) will focus on improving how individuals, agencies and organisations respond to harm within family environments with a particular focus on child sexual abuse and domestic abuse.

It will explore ways to strengthen system-wide multi-agency approaches to protecting children where concerns arise in the context of family relationships and will reflect on recommendations made in recent national reports including the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel’s report into Child Sexual Abuse in the Family Environment and align with new legislation such as the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 and introduction of the Operation Encompass duty on the police to notify education settings of domestic abuse incidents.
