This year, Forward UK organised the Ealing Community Iftar during Ramadan. International Women’s Day fell during the month of Ramadan this year, and the event brought together faith leaders, Councillors, community groups, council staff and residents to hear speeches and break fast, led by Sheik Hasan, who led Magrib Salah (congregational prayer). The event at Northfields Community Centre brough everyone together to celebrate unity, understanding and the spirit of Ramadan. After breaking of the fast, residents came together for prayer, and for an Iftar dinner, provided by our generous sponsors.

Thank you to all speakers who attended the event and shared inspirational words, including:

  • Councillor Polly Knewstub, Cabinet member for Equalities
  • Councillor Grace Quansah
  • Mary Otuko, Nawal Sahal, Alimatu Dimonekene MBE, Parese Hibbert, Forward UK
  • Nazia Matin, Ealing Council; and
  • Reverend Michael Barter, St Matthew’s Church.

Ealing Council would like to share an enormous thank you to the Forward UK team working tirelessly behind the scenes to organise this event, Eshraga El-Shaikh, Samah Mohamed, Tagwa Hamed and Rania.

We also would like to thank our sponsors of the event who provided the İftar and food for the evening. This includes Spice Village Southall and London Tigers.
